CEMETERY REGULATIONS
Parish of St. Charles Borromeo in Kryry
- 1. A cemetery is a place where the dead rest and pray for them. It should always be treated with respect, silence and dignity. Staying in the cemetery is permitted daily from dawn to dusk.
- 2. The cemetery is managed by the Parish Administrator – the Parish Priest.
- 3. The care and attention to the aesthetic appearance of the grave is the responsibility of the family of the deceased.
- 4. The dimensions of graves are determined by state regulations.
- 5. The family of the deceased acquires the right to the grave for 20 years after paying the so-called burial fee. This right can be extended for further years by paying a fee of PLN 10 per year (it can be paid for a longer period). In the absence of a fee for extension, the grave becomes the property of the parish and is subject to excavation.
- 6. The construction of a tombstone or renovation requires the consent of the Parish Priest and the cemetery caretaker must be notified. After the construction of a new tombstone, a fee for the care, maintenance and modernization of the cemetery must be paid in the amount of 10% of the investment costs.
- 7. Each grave should be clearly marked and have a plaque in a visible place with the name and surname of the deceased and the date of birth and death.
- 8. All work on the cemetery grounds should be carried out in accordance with sanitary, construction and health and safety regulations. The contractor is responsible for the order and aesthetics of the work area and for any damage he causes.
- 9. Without the consent of the Parish Priest it is forbidden to dig, uncover graves, bury the dead or human remains.
- 10. Within the cemetery it is prohibited to:
- arbitrary occupation of burial places
– moving tombstones and destroying cemetery equipment
– leaving excess soil and construction waste
– depositing garbage and waste in places other than designated ones
– placing benches and making concrete platforms at the graves
– unauthorized planting and removal of trees and shrubs
– introducing animals and placing advertisements
– moving motor vehicles and bicycles
- 11. The parish is not responsible for damages caused on the cemetery grounds: caused by theft, accidents and other damages caused by third parties. The person entitled to the grave should inform the Parish Priest and the Police about such facts.
- 12. As of 1 January 2022, the annual waste collection fee has been increased to PLN 20 per grave. The annual water consumption fee remains unchanged at PLN 10 per grave (graves of parish priests and small children are exempt from the fee).
